Dear visitor, first of all, we would like to thank you for visiting our new website and especially the part of "Elba 2001".

Elba, the third largest Italian islands after Sicily and Sardinia and the biggest island of the Tuscany archipelago, with a total surface of 224 sq. Km (29 km long and 19 km wide). The distance from the mainland is about 10 km. The sea is exceptionally clear, the beaches sandy and white, but the greenery inland is amazing as well and perfect for a walk. The climate is particularly mild with a average year long temperature of 15.7 °C.

DST Diest

As you know maybe, it was our CM François ON6VP (club manager) who started daydreaming in the spring of 1998 to activate an island. In 1999, it was so far. A group of 9 people went to "Ile d'Yeu". The special call TM0Y was on the air during 8 days. This expedition wasn't finished yet or we decided already to go back in 2001.

Well, the time has come!

The UBA section DST is hard working on a 2nd DX-expedition. We are going to Elba (Italy) in the month May of 2001. It is a wonderful island before the coast of Italy (between Italy and Corsica). Our expedition manager, Jean-Pierre (ON4BBA) has already found the perfect location and 7 participants are ready to leave.
